Free eye care treatment and spectacles brings smile to hundreds at Khagakhoribari

December 11, 2016 Khagakharibari: The Eye Care Project-Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (ECP-MSS) conducted a day-long free Eye Screening camp to bring smiles for visually impaired underprivileged people at Khagakharibari Union Porishod Complex, Tunir Haat, Dimla Upazila under Nilphamari district from 9 am to 4.30 pm on Sunday December 11, 2016. The program is conducted under the Zakat Fund Program of MSS. The program is conducted with the technical assistance of MSS’s partner hospital – the Shafiuddin Ahmed Foundation (SAF) located at Thakurgaon and the Khagakharibari Union Porishod.

MSS President Feroz M Hassan said “the eye care project of MSS is pledge bound to prevent avoidable blindness and restore vision of those who are unnecessarily vision handicapped”.

Tarikul Ghani, MSS Advisor said “MSS, a premier national level non-governmental organization is implementing its Eye Care Project with the aim to identify and treat preventable blindness through affordable eye care services in Bangladesh”.

Free eye screening and treatment, spectacle for vision correction, advice and referral services were provided to the underprivileged people of the union. Besides, identified cataract patients will undergo free surgery by inserting new artificial lenses in eyes by the qualified surgeons.  Mr. Feroz M. Hassan, President of MSS, Mr. Tarikul Ghani, Advisor of MSS, Md. Zakir Hossain, Director (Program) of MSS, Md. Rabiul Islam Lithon, Chairman of Khagakharibari Union Porishod, and local elites attended the program.

A total of 1200 patients were examined and given free eye care treatment services, and 300 spectacles were distributed for vision correction. 180 patients were identified for cataract surgery.
