EYE CARE PROJECT CONDUCTS SCHOOL SIGHT TESTING POROGRAM WITH JAAGO SCHOOLS

Dhaka 05 November 2017:  Comprehensive eye care services were provided to the underserved students of JAAGO Foundation School located at the Korail slum, Banani, Dhaka by the Eye Care Project of Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (ECP-MSS) in conjunction with JAAGO Foundation under its School Sight Testing Program (SSTP) during a day-long program.

The SSTP aims to identify short sight and other eye diseases among the disadvantaged children; provide referral services to the identified student-patients; provide appropriate treatment and build awareness on basic eye care among students and teachers. The program launched on 11 October 2017 is being expanded to include other schools.

“Over 12,000 children, mostly disadvantaged, are suffering from blindness due to unoperated cataract. The ECP-MSS is determined to reach out to those children and restore their eye sight” said Feroz M Hassan, MSS President.

Under the program ECP-MSS eye care team comprising qualified eye specialists and technicians with required eye testing equipment examined 280 students and provide 7 eye drops and 12 eye glasses to the students.
