Dhaka 11 October 2017: The Eye Care Project of Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (ECP-MSS) launched its School Sight Testing Program (SSTP) by providing comprehensive eye care services to the underserved students of JAAGO Foundation school located at Rayer Bazaar, Dhaka.
The SSTP aims to identify short sight and other eye diseases among the disadvantaged children; provide referral services to the identified student-patients; provide appropriate treatment and build awareness on basic eye care among students and teachers. The program will expand to include other schools.
“Over 12,000 children, mostly disadvantaged, are suffering from blindness due to unoperated cataract. The ECP-MSS is determined to reach out to those children and restore their eye sight” said Feroz M Hassan, MSS President.
Under the program we will examine 1200 students, medicines and eye glasses will be provided as needed. Today we examined 175 students.
The program was inaugurated by JAAGO Foundation founder Mr. Korvi Rakshand and MSS Executive Director Mr. Emam Hasanath. ECP-MSS works to eliminate avoidable blindness among the underprivileged.
